Lance Lopez - Trouble is Good review

Lance Lopez’s latest offering, “Trouble Is Good,” is a captivating journey through the heart and soul of blues-infused rock ‘n’ roll. From the very beginning of “Easy To Leave,” it’s clear that Lopez is here to make a statement, and this album is nothing short of exceptional.

The opening track, “Easy To Leave,” sets the stage with its catchy riff, soulful vocals, and masterful slide guitar work. Lopez effortlessly combines elements of blues and rock, and his guitar solo woven into the song is nothing short of mesmerizing. This track serves as the perfect introduction to an album that’s packed with musical prowess and emotional depth.

“Jam With Me” took me on almost a nostalgic trip, maybe even back to the 80’s. You won’t get it confused for a hair metal song, but it had me reminiscing on the heydays of rock bands and the sheer joy they had playing their instruments. Much of that has been lost these days, but not on this album. Lopez’s guitar prowess truly shines here as he delivers a performance that’s both technically impressive and irresistibly fun. It’s a perfect track for those moments when you just want to let loose and have a good time.

The title track, “Trouble Is Good,” is a standout with its jamming riff and Lopez’s soulful vocals. It’s as if he’s found himself in a better kind of trouble, and you’ll find yourself entranced by the psychedelic delta blues vibes that permeate this song. The extended outro is a sonic journey in itself, allowing the listener to get lost in Lopez’s guitar wizardry.

“Uncivil War” slows things down, revealing a more contemplative side of Lopez. The lyrics speak of battles fought and weariness, and his emotive guitar work adds depth to the song’s sentiment. It’s a poignant moment in the album, showcasing Lopez’s ability to convey deep emotions through both his lyrics and guitar playing.

“Wild Country” is a groovy, wild ride that invites you to embrace your inner free spirit. The infectious riff and spirited performance make it a track that’s hard to resist moving to. It’s a musical escape into the untamed wilderness, and Lopez’s vocals exude the kind of rebellious spirit that rock ‘n’ roll was built on.

“Take A Swing” is a testament to Lopez’s resilience and fearlessness. The influence of legends like Hendrix is apparent in the electrifying guitar work, but there are also massive echoes of 90s alternative in the mix. Growing up a giant fan of both, this track was right on target for me. Despite these influences, the track is undeniably Lance Lopez, showcasing his unique style and unmistakable voice.

“Trying In The Tri Star State” tell’s of Lance’s nonstop work schedule, making great music and traveling around sharing it with his fans. He has a workhorse mentality, and won’t stop trying to thrive in a damn tough business.

“Slow Down” offer a change of pace. It feels like a moment of reflection, perhaps a glimpse into the artist’s personal journey. “Slow Down” continues this introspective theme, with soothing vocals and a message about the passage of time. It’s a reminder that sometimes, we need to savor the present and appreciate life’s simple moments.

“Reborn” is a powerful track that exudes hope and the feeling of starting anew in a relationship. It’s a testament to Lopez’s ability to convey raw emotion through his music, and the soaring guitar solo adds a touch of optimism that’s truly infectious.

The final track, “Voyager: Sunrise, Voyager, I Am Ra,” takes us on a journey that is nothing short of epic. It’s a fitting conclusion to an album that has explored the depths of human emotion and musical prowess. Just when you think you’ve made it to the end of an album and probably heard the best of it, Lance arrives and proves you wrong with this 7- minute jam. I feel like fans of bands like Led Zeppelin will feel right at home rocking out to this one, which is in competition for my favorite track on this release.

In “Trouble Is Good,” Lance Lopez has delivered an album that not only showcases his immense talent as a guitarist and vocalist but also his ability to craft songs that resonate on a deep level. This album is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates the fusion of blues and rock, and it’s a testament to the enduring power of music to tell stories and touch the soul. Lance Lopez has truly outdone himself with this release, and “Trouble Is Good” is destined to be a classic in the world of blues-rock. With its blend of catchy riffs, soulful vocals, and masterful guitar work, it’s an album that will have you hitting the replay button again and again, discovering new layers of musical brilliance with each listen.
